The Character Education Movement takes on pragmatism, confused with instrumental reason

I recently came across what seemed a very brief description of the pragmatist philosophy (or as I like to call “pragmatic system of disbelief”). In fact, Bob Sherman article provides a good summary of the basic concepts of pragmatic movement. He does what at first glance appears to be an admirable job of explaining the relationship of pragmatism to “truth claims” emphasizing that the pragmatists define truth of a particular proposition or not) an absolute position and b) on the basis of the usefulness of this proposition.

The article is well worth a look if you want to understand how those who support “character education” pragmatic view. It does not take long to realize that while Mr. Sherman is part of this right, which has fundamentally misunderstood the implications of pragmatic reasoning. Your mischaracterization is not unusual. I could have the opportunity to clarify what really pragmatic system of thought and how it works in the field of social and economic policy.
